Event Organiser - Display Current Event Date for Recurring Events

In the event display, if it's a recurring event, the 'current' date (date selected from calendar - not today's date) for the event does not display - only next date/dates. I need to add a simple line above the Next info that simply says 'Date:' with the current event's date/time being displayed. (Exactly as is displayed for one-time-only events)

I tried using eo_get_current_occurrence_of but couldn't seem to get to where I needed to get. I don't see this function being used anywhere, so wondering if it's no longer in use/usable. No matter, I feel quite incompetent not being able to figure this out.
