I want to do analysis on trends moving across categories . What I want to know is what are the suitable ways to identify a moving trend

For en example for a trend movement is USA Beverage moves to USA Alcoholic Beverage after some time. So what are the statistical tests available to identify about this kind of movement in two time series. Is there any way to identify whether a trend has moved from one time series to another by analysing those two time series?
