What is the quickest way to heat mash / sparge water?
Using a propane burner, is one of the following methods quicker / more efficient than the other? If so why?
a) Heat 2.82 gallons of water from 70 degrees to boiling and then add 1.12 gallons of 70 degree water to get 4 gallons of 170 degree water.
b) Heat 4 gallons of water from 70 degrees to 170 degrees directly.
