I am looking specifically for 2 gallon or 4 gallon carboys. I have looked on eBay, Amazon, Homebrewing, and many more, but I cannot find a 2 gallon or a 4 gallon glass carboy. There might be some plastic options out there but glass is what I am specifically looking for and avoided looking at HDPE options. At Walmart they sell wine in 3 liter jugs (Just shy of 1 gallon) For roughly $10 a piece, but 1 gallon jugs at roughly $15 a piece. Sadly, the mouth of these 3 liter bottles is exactly too small to fit your average bung designed for gallon jugs, making them only good for aging. Is there any common store in the southwestern US that sells something like wine, apple juice, etc in a full gallon glass jug for cheaper …
I live in Southern California. I have an easy time finding websites and sources discussing buying wine grapes by the ton. I even found 1 source that will sell a minimum of 100 pounds. However, I cannot find any sources for buying fresh grapes in quantities less than that. Does this exist? How do folks find local fresh grapes for homebrewing?
I'm often tempted to buy my commonly used hop pellets online in bulk and storing them in my freezer. A lot of the cheap bulk hops are from the previous year. Assuming they are vacuum packed and frozen, is it safe to buy 2008 harvest hops or am I wasting my money?
