All the recipes for root beer end with, bottle up your root beer in a plastic bottles. Put it away and monitor the bottles when they become hard they are ready, 2-3 days. Put them in your fridge to kill or make the yeast go to sleep, Enjoy ! What if I don't have a fridge or enough space in the fridge. How can I make root beer that I can keep at room temp ?
We do not have sassafrass or sarsaparilla here in Turkey. But we do have terebinth. And I believe they are really similar. Have any of you had any experience on this? Usually roots of sarsaparilla is commonly used in root beers nowadays. I wonder if anyone had an experiment with terebinth.
I picked up some rootbeer extract at my local brewshop, and I've made a few batches in old soda bottles... but is it possible brew it with an alcohol content similar to that of beer?
I brewed a hard root beer 2-3 months ago. Right from the start the beers have been way too foamy. I've had to pour each one into a pitcher in order to contain the foam. The basics of the recipe was a light ale with root beer concentrate and brown sugar added. The recipe called to mix the brown sugar cold. I didn't think that was right but did it anyhow. There is residue in each bottle that I think …
I am looking to make a root beer which is both healthy and (to some degree) tasty. I have tried twice to make root beer using this recipe: http://wellnessmama.com/11392/homemade-root-beer/ The first time was barely drink-able, I had let the ginger bug ferment too long I believe. (I don't drink, but I felt it was fairly alcoholic for a root beer). The second time was OK, perhaps further iterations will improve but I did everything right as far as I could …
I recently obtained a bottle caper, some sassafrass bark chips, and some root beer extract flavoring from a coupling moving out. It also contained a recipe for rootbeer(non-alcoholic), listed below: Beginners Quick Bottling Recipe: Uses 2 used 2-L plastic soda bottles 1/8 teaspoon dry yeast, in a 6oz cup of warm water 2 & 1/4 cups sugar, 1 tablespoon extract Mix in 1 gallon container Pour 1/2 mixture in each soda bottle Top off each bottle with plain water to …
My Goal is to make a root beer with a ABV similar to your everyday beer or maybe stronger. (4-10%) I am newer to homebrewing so most of my experience comes from using Kits. My approach was going to be to use a Wheat Beer Kit (ABV 5.2%) and before starting the Fermentation process I would add some Root beer extract. Any suggestions or Tips would be Greatly appreciated!
Good day, I've done a lot of beer making (primarily pale ales, hefeweizens, and IPAs) for about 5 years, and mead for about 15 years. I would like to request a "go to" non or low alcoholic root beer recipe (ie: 0.25% - 0.35% tops ABV) brewed by hand. Without a community endorsed recipe, I am currently considering the following (from Homebrew Forums): Start with 4.5 quarts of water and put all ingredients in pot besides sugar and molasses, bring …
I've since learned better, but when I first got my kegging setup, I put root beer on one of the lines. After that keg was empty, I decided to put soda water in instead. Unfortunately, the root beer scent is fairly strong. Like I said, I've since learned that this is a problem and you shouldn't put root beer in there. But, here I am, having made that mistake. Is there anything I can do, short of replacing everything that …
I was given a pair of Virgils kegs with root beer still in them, and I've been wanting to use them for homebrewing. I was at a brewery tour a little while ago and I was told that it's nearly impossible to get the taste of root beer out of the keg, and that it wouldn't be a good idea to use them for brewing. Is this the case? Is there a way to clean all the flavor and junk …
