Total newbie here so sorry for the very basic question. I started doing a the Coopers Lager kit last night (using the standard Coopers Homebrew start kit set up). It said in the instructions to add the yeast and ferment at 21-27 degrees C however I added the yeast and have been leaving it ferment around 14-18 (my back shed) as I read a comment that lager tastes nicer when brewed 11-18. Feeling kinda silly about that now though, should …
I have just started to drink a batch of coopers Dark ale it has been bottled for two weeks now. the carbonation looks ok a nice hiss when the bottle is opend. lots of bubbles in the glass and and lots of bubbles rising to the surface. but no head at all I used a dark enhancer as advised by coopers. Also the beer does not tast like beer realy. it tastes like a soft drink the ABV was 4.2. …
I'm pretty new to homebrewing and just tried coopers Hefe Wheat kit. I've followed the instructions and pitched the yeast into my carboy when the right temperature was reached. It's been 4 days and yeast is still inactive (gravity is still OG). I've read that hefeweizen gets its banana/clove flavor from the yeast, so I was wondering: If I pitch some safale-05 into my fermenter now (the only yeast I have around), will I still have the clove/banana flavor (as …
I have inherited a garage after a recent move, and as I also have off street parking, it seems only right and natural that I start to indulge my desire to start homebrewing. My intention is to be good enough to brew all the ale for my wedding within 2 years, but having never done it before, I just want to wet my beak in the process. A lot of people have advised me to start with a kit, and …
I'm brewing a coopers ginger beer kit but over the past week the yeast didn't seem to activate particularly well. There has been no krausen and over the past couple of days there have been a few bubbles on top but that's it. I have done a couple of coopers kits but ordered these from a different supplier. I decided to give Amazon a try as it was cheaper but I think that the yeast might have been mistreated. Is …
I have the white coopers australian stout 23L kit which recommends the additional 1kg sugar you can add but I know its not recommended. I know most people add 1kg spraymalt but I do not have it right now, or any brewing sugar (and won't be able to get more for a while). I was wondering how 500g or 1kg of 'caramel sugar' or brown sugar would taste. Is another alternative to just reduce the amount of wort I make? …
