How to fix a regulator that doesn't react to pressure changes?

I have a simple (only on gauge, from 0 to 60 psi) regulator that came with my kegerator. It worked fine for 5 years, but recently it's getting stuck. I have to open the adjustment dial a lot to get the needle to move. When I do so, the needle is not responsive at all, it takes minutes to react. After I had opened it very wide, it showed 30 psi. I turned it all the way back, but the …

How to fit kegging into a small house

We have a very tiny house. I brew in the garage and bottle there. I want to keg so bad but I am having trouble finding room for some kegs (in something to keep them cold). Anyone have some genius idea to store a kegging system in my house that would hold at least 2 kegs, if not 3+. More details: single story on a crawl, anything outdoors will freeze, I have an attic and I'm not afraid to use …

Cant get rid of condensation inside keezer

I'm running a 5 cubic feet Magic Chef keezer with 2x6s for a collar so I can get an additional keg on the ledge. I cut the corners at 45 degrees and sealed off the collar with caulk, weather stripping, etc etc. I have two recirculation fans and a bag of Damp Rid and within 2 hours of starting it up there's condensation pooling in the bottom corner. I have the temp set to 37 degrees F. Any tips or …

How to disassemble a Krome Dispense beer tower?

I have a beer tower whose lines need replacing. But, I am having great trouble actually pulling the old lines out of the tower. They seem to be attached to some metal disks, which I can neither pull back through the tower, nor push through past the point where the faucets are attached. I can wiggle them around, but I can not actually dislodge them. The lines are stuck, dangling from the main body of the tower. Is there a …

How to make a tap faucet close automatically?

I recently built a kegerator out of a vintage freezer. I've added one tap handle to the door with two more coming soon. The freezer has a latching handle and pretty strong closing action, which pops the tap open dumping beer on the floor... Can I add a spring to the internals of my cheap faucet to make it close automatically? Does anyone know which one is a good size and strength? An overview of the parts and assembled version …

Kegging and dispensing over distance/elevation using keg pressure or something else

A few years ago I set off to turn my kitchen dry bar into a wet bar by routing beer from my kegerator to the taps 10 or so feet above. I was advised against it by some employees at my local home brew store who said that I'll just end up with a lot of foamy warm beer. As a result I built a bar on casters over a kegerator, which was admittedly pretty awesome, but still less integrated …

Kegerator taps stick when inactive

So I've noticed with my kegerator, if I don't pour a beer for a few days, the taps can get very sticky. So sticky sometimes that it actually takes a scary amount of force to pull the tap open to start to dispense beer. My taps are pretty standard ones that came with my tower, something like this: Is there any kind of special grease I can buy or precautions I can follow as to keep my taps from getting …

How to eliminate stiff foam from kegerator?

I have a kegerator that holds two, five gallon kegs. The kegs are charged at 25 psi CO2 for two weeks at 70°F (21°C). When I place a keg in the kegerator I release the pressure on the keg. Once placed in the kegerator the kegs are set to 8 psi at 40°F (4°C). When I pour the beer a head of both stiff and soft foam forms. The soft foam eventually dissipates into beer. The stiff foam holds it's …

I have a keg, now what?

A co-worker of mine had a roommate move out and leave his brewing stuff behind, including two 5 gallon kegs (pictured below). Co-worker ended up giving them to me for free. Obviously you need a CO2 tank, and connectors, but what size CO2 tank and are the 'Ball Lock Connectors' the right one in general/these specific ones? Can I use the same cleaning/rinsing chemicals on these (PBW/StarSan)? Since I am a complete noob to the world of using my own …

Glosan and soapy taste

Cleaned lines with Glosan (followed directions and flushed with a keg of purified water) and now there is a soapy taste to the beer. Anybody else have this happen? suggestions for how to avoid this are welcome for an alternate cleaner for the lines. Thinking of just switching to Oxyclean, but wonder if that will really clean the gunk in the lines without soaking.

Shorter type A German slider coupler

I have a kegerator and have a German beer on draft. There are limited options in volume so it is a tight fit. The type a coupler I purchased is too tall by roughly 1/4". Is there anywhere I can look for a shorter version?

Nothing coming out of tap (ball lock corny keg)

I recently got a 5 gallon ball lock corny keg, but am having nothing but trouble with it. I was originally getting nothing but foam coming out of it, so I upgraded the liquid line from 5 feet to 10 feet. After the conversion, I would get a lot of air pockets in the beer line, and eventually it just stopped flowing altogether. I know that: the keg has pressure (from pulling the relief valve) The liquid line dip tube …

Choosing a good refrigerator/freezer for kegerator conversion

Does anyone have experience and recommendations for a good fridge/freezer for conversion into a kegerator? I'm basically choosing between a full sized fridge, a mini-fridge and a chest freezer. I'll likely start by using it just as a fridge for kegs and lagering and one day make the kegerator conversion. My priorities are to be efficient, fit at least 2 5 gallon soda kegs, cost-effective and not completely unsightly. Here is what I already know.... The full size fridge seems …

convert pump tap to kegorator tap

I have a "party" pump tap. I want to convert this to use on a DIY kegerator. Can this be done? After taking the tap apart it looks pretty basic: CO2 in one side, beer out the other. I am specifically interested in what the threading is on this tap where the pump connects.

Partially-covering kegerator

I am new to kegging and I am trying to build a kegerator. I am short on living space so I am considering a particularly low-footprint concept. My question is: what do you guys think about this concept and is there a device I can buy instead of make? Basically I want it to be an open-top small fridge, with only enough space to insert the bottom part (e.g. 1/3) of a keg. Of course there would be heat loss …

How to choose a fridge to convert to a kegerator

I'm going to be building a kegerator pretty soon and I'm pretty sure that I am going to buy a new fridge. Now, I have 1 corny keg but in the future, I would like 4 kegs hooked up, my wife also would like a chest freezer for storage. I think I can fit 2 kegs with gas in an under the counter fridge, so I'd need 2 and also this chest freezer. I was looking in the store today …

Building a kegerator from a wine fridge

I am thinking of making a kegerator for 3 gallon pin lock corny kegs. Is there any issue with using a wine fridge to do this? I thought the size was right, as it can tuck away on my countertop and it has no freezer or shelves to get in the way. Has anyone done this before or has instructions on how to do this? How big of a fridge do I need for a 3 gallon keg and a …

Does anyone make low-profile ball lock disconnects?

Is there such a thing as low-profile gas/liquid disconnects for ball lock corny kegs? I'm curious if there's anything commercially available that is notably shorter in height than the typical black/gray plastic disconnects that are commonly available. Since those direct the tubing at an upward angle, the total height of the disconnect plus tubing is around 3 inches, which can present challenges in height-constrained kegerator/keezer configurations. Note: I did try googling for this, but the existence of low profile sankey …

Foam directly out of my beer line

I hadn't used this kegerator in a couple of years (the fridge has been plugged in, but I've had nothing attached). I bought a brand new 3/16" hose and connected it and now I get about 50% foam coming out on a new keg. When I used to use this, everything was fine before. I'm not sure what is different (other than the new line). I have about 5' of hose that rises 2' in my fridge (maybe a foot). …

Is it safe to drill into the side of a fridge?

I want to transform a compressor wine fridge into a kegerator. I wanted to know where it would be safe to drill holes, either in the side or the top? There is no freezer section, and the back of the fridge is a snake of coils. Does this tell me anything?
