Any possible container to use to prevent beer to freeze if I put it in an upright freezer? I’m asking as I’m planning to buy a small upright freezer instead of this small refrigerator so that I can get more freezer space than just refrigeration but I still want to be able to put some drinks.
I just bought a freezer for use as a fermenting unit. How do I know where to drill my holes? Any advice greatly appreciated. I cannot see any specific advice on the net.
After fermentation, I put priming sugar and put them to bottles and wait for 7-10 days in bottle. I open somt They look OK, good foam and carbonation. No fancy smell or off-taste. Then I put them in fridge for 1-2-3 days (unopened bottles), no matter what after fridging I lose the foam. Before putting fridge I have foam, and if i put some sugar just testing, the bottle fills with more foam. But after fridging, if I put sugar …
Something went bad in my refrigerator. I had about 4 or 5 ounces of hops in there for my next couple of batches. Should I toss them? I'm kinda worried about that smell getting into my beer. I've never seen it happen, but I have heard horror stories about it.
I have a chest freezer that I operate at 60F/15C and brew all my beers inside of it. I also use a raspberry pi system that I keep inside the chest freezer. What can I do to prevent moisture growth inside of the chest freezer?
Does anyone have experience and recommendations for a good fridge/freezer for conversion into a kegerator? I'm basically choosing between a full sized fridge, a mini-fridge and a chest freezer. I'll likely start by using it just as a fridge for kegs and lagering and one day make the kegerator conversion. My priorities are to be efficient, fit at least 2 5 gallon soda kegs, cost-effective and not completely unsightly. Here is what I already know.... The full size fridge seems …
I'm going to be building a kegerator pretty soon and I'm pretty sure that I am going to buy a new fridge. Now, I have 1 corny keg but in the future, I would like 4 kegs hooked up, my wife also would like a chest freezer for storage. I think I can fit 2 kegs with gas in an under the counter fridge, so I'd need 2 and also this chest freezer. I was looking in the store today …
I bought a large chest freezer that I use to brew all my beer. It was always difficult for me to clean it because my brewing schedule did not allow for less than 3/4 of the freezer to be empty at any given time. I happened to fall behind schedule and now have a short window where the freezer is entirely empty. I sprayed the whole thing down with a lot of 409 and scrubbed, which gets most of it …
listening to an interview with John Palmer he suggests putting the fermentation vessel in the fridge (after fermentation is complete) to drop out some left over trub and yeast. I figured I would give it a shot, but when putting it in I wondered what would happen to the air-lock when the beer cools, it would surely start sucking in instead of blowing out. what other methods of keeping the atmosphere and other stuff out could I use, if I …
I'm sick of the hassle of bottling, so I want to get a fridge and keg setup. Obviously it needs to be able to fit the kegs, but is there any other things I should look for in a fridge? I don't mind spending a bit more money, but I don't want to bring it home to find out it won't work with the other equipment.
Any fellow homebrewers out there have a suggestion on a current make/model minifridge (not full-sized fridge or chest freezer) that will fit 5-gallon corny kegs? I've seen many suggestions of Frigidaire FRC445GB and Sanyo 4912M models but, like many others referenced online, they seem to be no longer manufactured. I'm looking for something simply to fit 2 corny kegs and a 5 lb CO2 tank. What is currently available that I can buy new if my repeated searches for old …
Most LME come in 3 pound cans, which is a quite large quantity if you want to add just a little to your wort, just one pound for example. It's a shame to throw away the rest. If I open a LME can and do not want to use the whole amount of lme, can I save the rest for later, even in a refrigerator? After all, it already contains water so it doesn't have the hydration problems of DME, …
I currently have 4 fridges at my house. One is for food. One is my kegerator. One is for beer to drink now. One is for beer to drink later. The beer for now is creeping into my food fridge, as the beer for later is creeping into my beer for now fridge. What I'm getting at is I think I need another fridge. I'm looking at some wine fridges as possible long-term storage options. They all keep the bottles …
