Application stuck in "Installing..." stage in Market

I'm having the problem mentioned in the title on my Samsung Galaxy S. I updated the app Dock Simulator and for some reason it got stuck while installing. Now it shows the scrolling green bar in the downloads section of the market but the program itself works fine. How can I get rid of the constant "Installing..." status? Oh yeah, reboot and uninstall didn't fix anything.

Samsung Galaxy S : Why can't I set cursor position in text boxes in browser?

When using the default browser on my Galaxy S, I can't see a cursor in text boxes that have focus. With no cursor I don't know where letters I type will appear. This seems to occur on all sites I have tested. Can someone with this phone confirm there is something wrong? Note that the address bar at the top is fine and behaves as I would expect. Input method is the Samsung keyboard. No third party apps or firmware …

Why can't I change the Google Calendar on an event after it's been sync'd?

Galaxy-S (Vibrant), Android 2.1 If I create an event with the stock Calendar app, I can freely change which Google Calendar the event is associated with. Once it sync's with Google Calendar, however, I can no longer change which Calendar the event is associated with. I can do change any other aspect of the event, and even delete the event, but I can't move it to a different calendar. I can change the calendar from the Google Calendar web page, …

ZIP+4 ZIP codes in Contacts for Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S)

I have a Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) running Android 2.1-update1. I have ZIP Codes for many of my contacts in the ZIP+4 format (e.g. 99999-1234). However, the field for ZIP codes does not allow any character except numbers. Without being able to add a dash it makes it difficult to read (e.g 999991234). I would have thought that it would auto-format the number they way it does for phone numbers. Is there anyway to have the default Contacts program accept …

Can you get a list of the RUNNING applications on Android for the purpose of activating them?

On my Samsung Galaxy S Android phone: if I start a couple of apps, I can get an overview of them in the 'Active applications' icon on my first screen. Clicking this icon, shows me all active applications but allows me only to end them. I find no way to activate them. Pressing the center touchpath at the bottom displays the last 6 clicked icons - which may or may not be the ones running. F.i. if I start 6 …

Entering a backtick with the Swype keyboard

I have a Samsung Galaxy S and use the Swype keyboard by default (OK, I'm addicted to it). Using Swype, I can't find the backtick character, `, which limits my ability to answer questions or add comments on these SE sites. It exists in the Android keyboard, but going to Settings > Locale and text midway through entering a post is a pain, especially if I want to switch back to Swype afterwards so I have to do it twice. …

How can I change the default currency key on Swype keyboard?

In Swype Settings I have the language set to "UK English" yet for some reason when I'm typing the currency symbol (long-press on s) is a dollar sign ($) not a pound sign (£), if I press SYM the dollar actually has its own button $ on the left-hand side, and I have Euro (€) and Yen on the top row for long presses on # and 3, and the pound is relegated to the right hand side for a …

Can you read a USB flash drive from an Android phone?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S (i9000) with Android 2.1. I am wondering if it can read a USB flash drive. It will be really useful to copy files across USB drives so you don't have to carry laptops around. I think if there is a cable/converter to plugin a USB into the phone and there is an app to read the connected USB drive, I don't see why it can't be done. The problem is do the cable and …

Can I make home screen contact icons update their picture?

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to make contact icons on the home screen update their picture when the contact's picture is changed, without needing to delete the shortcut and recreate it. Can this be done? Make the contact-shortcut's picture "live" as it were? e.g. some of my contacts are linked to Facebook and their pictures on their contact records sync as expected, but the shortcut on the home screen will still show whatever their picture was when …
