At the moment Android 2.2 has a pretty incomprehensible icon of a battery that shows remaining strength. Is there a way to switch that to a numeric display (like is available on the iPhone)?
How can I see the title alt text for website images on an HTC Desire? I'm currently using the Dolphin HD browser but I can't see a way of getting the alt text.
I have at least one alarm set to go off daily so the "alarm clock" icon on my notification bar is really pointless. Is there a way to make this icon hidden in Android Froyo or Android Gingerbread?
My DroidX just got upgraded to 2.3.15 (android version shows 2.2) over the air. After the upgrade the phone forced me to set a pin number. The phone is not currently connected to an Exchange server, but it used to be. A couple of weeks ago I removed then Exchange settings for contact list sync and I uninstalled TouchDown. The strange thing is that the Exchange server that I was connected to didn't have a requirement for a password, so …
I have a phone with Android 2.2 (HD2 with CM6.0) enabled to surf internet pages (data connection). Now, I would like to "surf" using my PC connected via USB to the phone. Is it possible? Which programs do I need both on PC and Android? If there are multiple solutions available, a free or low cost one is preferred
I've had several instances where this information would have been useful when navigating w/ Moto Droid, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to get to interstate (USA) rest areas in Google Maps Navigation. Are they grouped in with something else? Called something else? I was thinking of suggesting this to Google, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't already there and missing it.
Is there any way to override the Sprint DNS server(s) used by default on the 3G connection of an HTC Evo running Froyo without root access? The reason I want to do this is because some sites are able to resolve when I'm using OpenDNS or Google DNS while connected via WiFi at home, but when I'm on 3G, the same sites come up as page not found, so the easiest culprit to blame is DNS.
I'm using android 2.2 on a stock Nexus one (from the pre-developer phone stage). Should the music player be able to cope with WMAs? I'm sure I've seen references to it coping with them, but they are currently just dead weight on the SD card. I actually quite like the stock player so installing a new player is the fallback option.
I'd like to merge contacts from different sources -- i.e., imported contacts from phone, from sim card, and from my gmail account -- and upload the ultimate contact on my gmail account. For instance, I know someone's mail adress using my gmail account, and I import his phone number from the sim card. My goal is to update the contact on the GMail account, in order to have also his phone on internet (it's the perfect backup). Is it possible …
If I take some photos, and then go to the Gallery app, those photos do not always appear immediately. I've tried causing the Gallery to refresh, but the images simply do not appear for more than 15 minutes. I can open the Camera app again and browse through them, so I know they have been stored. Is there a way to eliminate the latency between when a photo is taken using Camera and when it appears in Gallery?
I have an HTC Droid Incredible running Android 2.2 FroYo and would like to use custom sounds/songs as ringtones for text message notifications, event and task reminders, Facebook and Twitter notifications, and email messages. I have the MP3s that I want to use located in the /ringtones directory of my phone, but they don't show up on the list of possible sound effects/tones/notifications, but they do show up in the selection for incoming call ringtones. What do I do to …
I have to send two contacts in my phone book to another contact, on my Nexus One Android 2.2. How can I do this easiest? On my old SonyEricsson this function was on a nearby menu, but I can't find it on Android. I have also tried to copy the phone number when in edit mode of the contacts, but I can not paste it when composing the SMS to my contact. Is there really no way to transfer a …
I have a root Nexus one, that at one point ran a custom ROM, but now has the stock Android 2.2 release. I just got an update to 2.2.1, and it fails with: Build : RA-nexus-v1.5.3 Finding update package... Opening update package... Verifying update package... E:No signature (188 files) E:Verification failed Installation aborted. What is the problem? Why does it say 1.5.3 in the build?
HTC directly updated over-the-air (OTA) from 1.5 android to 2.1 android firmware on my handset. Since that time, the touch-screen (which is miscalibrated) can no longer be recalibrated, because the menu item has disappeared. I have, of course, requested support from HTC via email, but I doubt that they will find an answer here, and I suspect my phone is now junk, unless some enterprising Phone-savvy person can figure out how to restore this thing. There is sadly no backup …
Currently I am using HTC Hero with Android 1.5 and as we know right now Android 2.2 (Froyo) has been released, so i am planning to upgrade from 1.5 to 2.2. Regarding updating, I have the following questions: How do I update it? Is there any selection options provided to update? For example I want to update my 1.5 to 2.1 instead of 2.2, 2.0 or anything else. Are there any issues that have already occurred with Android 2.2? What …
I have installed Droid VNC Server on my Android phone 2.2 (CyanogenMod), but it is not clear how to control now my phone via USB. When I start the server on the phone it gives me an IP but I cannot ping to it. I cannot neither connect using the browser at the specified address nor through VNC client. I have root access. Can someone explain me the steps to follow?
Possible Duplicate: How do I disable the 'click' sound on the camera app? If the phone isn't in silent mode, taking a picture using the stock camera application always plays a "shutter" sound. Is there a way to turn the sound off? I'm using stock Android 2.2 on a Nexus One.
Android 2.2 has a new feature called "Wi-Fi Hotspot" which was not available in previous versions. What is the importance of this feature? What is meant by "Wi-Fi Hotspot"? Is there anywhere that I can find information about this?
I added a contact shortcut to my home screen, and I noticed that the Messaging icon in the pop-up changed to Handcent when I changed the default messaging app on my phone. One thing that's always bothered me is that there's a Facebook icon in the pop-up. Is there any way to customize what pops up when you press on a contact shortcut?
I want to listen to the audio portion of flash on my Droid preferably with the screen off. Sites like InfoQ.com have great interviews in flash that I want to just listen to.
